Met with Wendy and Sabrina last night at Cafe Paradiso and did we have a nice time (okay, we should have gone to a cello concert but forgot to order the tickets). So instead we treated ourselves with some outstanding food. Sabrina had the tartlet with beetroot and goats' cheese as starter and opted for the aspagarus gratin for the main. Wendy obmitted the starter but had the semonlia gnocchis as main. I had the lime grilled haloumi and the couscous cake...yummmmmmy....
Sabrina gave me a book called 'Grannie Loosley's Kitchen Album' and it is a delight to read. It is a family album from Jill Watt ranging from 1860 to 1920. Packed with old stories and photographs it gives a deep insight into family life in the last century. Recipes sound quite strange and funny like 'useful cake', 'invalid pudding' and a 'special suet pudding for a delicate person'....I felt transported back in time....thanks Sabrina for this book....
Don't forget tonight, Clodagh McKenna is cooking at the aga shop behind the Clarion Hotel.... hope to see you there.
