We are the Champions.....

All my finger nails are gone as I bit them all off. Carol was close to a heart attack and so was I. Okay, it wasn't the best game ever (at least after the 1st half) but it is the result that counts. And we are very happy indeed. Helping us go through the ordeal and the celebration was a 2004 La Marescialla Barbera d'Asti and a 2006 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo....both very rich wines but on different levels....just like the game actually. Anyway......ManUn not only won the premier league title but also the Champions League......a good season.....I am still in celebration mood.
What else was on??? Jacobs Creek Restaurant of the Year Award was announced yesterday and the Dublin restaurant Patrick Guilbaud took the title home (a 3-course meal will set you back about €163 - for one - but the 2 Michelin Stars might account for that). Ivans Oyster Bar and Grill took the title Best Newcomer home (and with a 3-course meal around €50 I will pay them a visit next time I am in Dublin). Check out Will's review of the restaurant. He went before the awards (as if he knew ;-). Anyway, he compared Ivans with the Fishy Fishy in Kinsale and that can't be bad....

Good Morning Elke,

That's my (Wills) review of Ivans, not Paul's. Paul is only a guest poster on the blog when he feels compelled to write. The rest of the time it's my rantings. I've also got a write up on a visit to Guibaulds (http://irishwine.blogspot.com/2007/12/restaurant-patrick-guilbaud.html). Guibaulds may be expensive but it is surely worth it for the quality, and the lunch menu (3 courses) is only €50, he has very nice non-meat dishes also.

Cheers,
Will

So sorry Will. Have changed it already. I might pay them a visit for lunch one day. Will let you know when it happened. Have you ever been to La Bigoudenne in Fermoy. Rudolph is a unique character and the food is outstanding. Try his gambas....yum.
