I am getting prepared to head off to Waterford on Friday for the Terra Madre 2008. The program is extensive and offers something for everyone. Below are just a few events that are worth joining:
04th Sept. Cooking demonstrations by Irelands favourite chefs…haven't seen the complete program yet but I heard that Darina Allen, Rachel Allen, Dennis Cotter, Dylan McGrath and Richard Corrigan are expected…the demonstrations taking place until Saturday. Tickets costs € 15 per session. I think money well spent.
05th Sept. There will be workshops throughout the day at WIT, Cork Road, Waterford. Each one costs €50 each but you will be able to talk to producers, buyers, sellers and politic makers….a complete l
There is also a Slow Food Feast that is not to be missed on Friday at the WIT, College Road, Waterford. The food is from local producers and I can imagine how yummy the feast will be.
There will also be several food tours where you can visit the producers and can have a look around at farms etc. The bus leaves from Tramore at 08:15 and from Waterford at 9:00. Tickets are € 15 and a picnic is included….
06th Sept. Saturday is family day with a big novelty sports event and a picnic hosted by Rachel Allen. Tickets are € 5 each and the event starts at 12pm at the People's Park in Waterford.
07th Sept. Last but not least….A big farmer's market will take place on Sunday from 11:00 until 3:00pm at John Robert's Square. Artisan food producers from all over Ireland will take part in this market….and now guess where I will be on Sunday ;-)
Hope that you are tempted to go to Waterford for the weekend. The events are definitely worth a visit and all proceedings will go towards Slow Food Ireland and Terra Madre.
